What are GPI caps?
GPI caps are screw caps that you can screw onto bottles or jars. They are often used for products such as glass bottles, as well as plastic shampoo bottles and more. GPI stands for "Glass Packaging Institute", an organisation that has agreed on sizes of caps and bottles.
What is a GPI code for caps?
These conventions ensure that a cap with size GPI 28-400, for example, will always fit a bottle of the same size. The first number (28) indicates how wide the opening is in millimetres. The second number (400) tells something about what the thread looks like. Each type of thread has its own number. A 410 thread looks a lot like a 400, but is slightly higher and longer. A 400 thread is a kind of cap-closure that you can screw onto a bottle. It has one straight twist (like a spiral) around the neck of the bottle, so the cap is securely fastened. This is the most common thread.
What are GPI caps made of?
There are GPI caps made of plastic, metal or aluminium. Some have extra parts, such as a sealing ring or a closure that shows you whether the bottle has already been opened.
GPI caps are handy because they seal well and because they are sold universally.
Which GPI caps does Riké sell?
The most popular bottles at Riké are the Neos and Oslo series. The bottle series both have the same thread (400). The diameter depends on the sizes of the bottles. All bottles with a capacity of 0.2-0.5 litres have a diameter of 28 mm and therefore need caps with size GPI 28/400.
The 0.7-1.0-litre bottles are 33 mm in diameter and thus need caps with size GPI 33/400.
