Drinking a cocktail on a terrace on a summer evening: delicious! Choosing the right cocktail is quite a task then, though. Which one do you take? There are so many different kinds of cocktails. With those cocktails come natural glasses. Which cocktail glasses fit which cocktails? Read it in this blog!

Mojito

Mojitos can be served in many different types of glasses. Usually, Mojitos are drunk from long drink glasses. The drink contains rum, sparkling water, lime juice, sugar and mint. The long drink glass is the ideal glass for cocktails with liquor and fruit juice, so definitely for the famous Mojito too!

 

Piña Colada

A Piña Colada is drunk from a spherical glass on a base. The shape of the glass refers to the predominant ingredient: pineapple! Besides pineapple, the main ingredients are white rum and coconut milk. Piña Coladas were first drunk in Puerto Rico in 1950.

 

Martini

The Martini is one of the best-known cocktails. Martini is served in a conical glass, with a foot. A Martini contains gin and dry white vermouth, with an olive and/or lemon peel in the glass. Another variant of the Martini, is the Vodka Martini. James Bond's favourite drink: shaken, not stirred. Yet other variants are the Pornstar Martini and the Espresso Martini.

 

Margarita

A margarita glass is almost the same as a martini glass, but a margarita glass has a bulge in one glass. A margarita contains tequila, triple sec and lime juice. On the rim of the glass is a lime peel. There are many variations of the Margarita, such as the Strawberry Margarita, Mango Margarita, and Frozen Margarita. Gin Tonic

You didn't guess it, but Gin Tonic is a cocktail based on gin and tonic. Gin Tonic usually consists of two-thirds tonic and one-third gin. The origin of this drink is in the 19th century: British soldiers in India invented this combination. The glass is usually a large bulbous glass, in which the Gin Tonic comes into its own!

 

Dark 'n Stormy

A Dark 'n Stormy is drunk from a long drink glass. This cocktail contains a lot of ice. Besides ice, it also contains dark rum and ginger beer. The combination of the two makes for a fierce drink. The drink originates from Bermuda and is very popular among sailors: a tough drink!

 

Caipirinha

This cocktail consists of ice, sugar, lime and cachaça. Cachaça is a strong drink and similar to white rum. A Caipirinha is served in a low tumbler. Originally, the Caipirinha comes from Brazil. In fact, it is the official national cocktail of Brazil.

 

Old Fashioned

An Old Fashioned is a cocktail consisting of bourbon, sugar syrup, Angustura bitters and an orange peel. The cocktail lives up to its name: it is one of the oldest cocktails around. In the 20th century, many people wanted to try new drinks, but a group of people wanted it 'old fashioned'. The cocktail is served in a low glass.

 

Cosmopolitan

A 'Cosmo' is a cocktail whose ingredients are vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice and triple sec. It is usually served in a tall spherical glass with a foot. The origins of the Cosmopolitan are unclear. What is clear, however, is that these glasses can be purchased from Riké.
