What printing options are available when printing plates?
Every hospitality business wants to shine with a beautiful corporate identity and appearance. A good and efficient way to promote yourself and show where your business is by printing glassware or tableware, for example, plates. What options are there for plate printing? Where on the plate can be printed? You can read about it in this blog!
There are lots of different printing techniques and printing positions related to plate printing. We'll explain them one by one, nice and simple!
Standard position
The standard position when printing plates is at the edge. Whether it is at 12 o'clock (top), 3 o'clock (right), 6 o'clock (bottom) or 9 o'clock (left): it is all standard and at no extra cost. It is possible to have your logo or text printed on the edge of these plates. This can be printed in multiple colours; it's all possible. We do this using the most widely used printing technique: transfer printing. Read more about this in the blog written about it.
Printing under glazing
I can imagine you are thinking, 'Hey, what does that mean?' I'll explain it for you! The plate, without the glaze layer, is called the biscuit. The glaze layer is a glass-like layer that ensures the plate has a shiny appearance and is sturdier. By applying the logo to the plate first and only then applying the glaze layer, you protect the logo and the plate is scratch-resistant. This ensures that your logo is 100% protected; ideal!
Mirror
Printing in the mirror of the plate means that you print your logo in the centre of the plate. The advantage here is that the logo can be printed much larger than with standard printing on the edge of the board. At an additional cost, this is no problem at all and ensures a beautiful end result!
Line around the plates
To complete the printing of your logo, it is an option to add a line around the plate in any colour. A great example are the plates we printed for Le Bistro in Deventer. We printed their green logo on the edge of the plate, also adding a beautiful and chic shiny gold border around the plates.
At Riké, it is possible to purchase plates with a wide rim. With explicitly these plates, it is also possible to apply a double line. The line will then be on the outside of the plate and around where the wide edge ends. Getting porcelain plates printed is quite an art. Ask about the possibilities! We will be happy to help.
Full colour
With a plate without a wide border, it is possible to have a photo printed spread over the entire surface of the plate; perfect! Don't worry about the colours of the print: everything is possible, as the plates are printed with digital printing. With this printing technique, all colour combinations are possible. So this will be a beautiful plate with photo!
