These are the 10 most popular shots

Shot glasses: they make your evening just that little bit cozier. You have them in lots of different flavours. From sweet to strong, they are all there. But which shots are the most popular and the most drunk? In this blog, read the 10 most popular shots and how to make your shot experience that little bit more fun.

What are the top 10 most famous shots?

Jägermeister

The well-known shot. What used to be a medicine is now drunk as a party shot. The spicy taste is very recognisable and burns nicely in your throat. You can make fun shot combos with it, such as a Jägerbomb (also known as the Flying Bear). This is a combination of Red Bull with Jägermeister.

Vodka

This Russian drink burns even worse in your throat. Vodka is odourless and colourless and is drunk all over the world. You can have a single shot of Vodka, but it is also good mixed into cocktails, such as a Moscow Mule or a Blue Lagoon.

Tequila

This Mexican shot is made from agave plants. Tequila has been drunk since the 16th century and many people still enjoy it today. A popular tequila ritual involves three steps: lick salt off your hand, drink the tequila, and then bite into a slice of lime or lemon.

Sambuca

Sambuca is a well-known anise liqueur from Italy with an alcohol content of around 40%. The drink is traditionally served as a shot with three coffee beans. These symbolise health, wealth and happiness. Sometimes the Sambuca is lit briefly before drinking to release its aromas.

Dropshot

Dropshot is a typically Dutch shot. It tastes, as the name suggests, like liquorice. The shot has a dark brown to black colour and was introduced in the 1990s. The drink contains 20% alcohol, but there is also a 'Double Black' variant. This contains 30% alcohol.

Boswandeling

A 'Boswandeling' (dutch for Forest Walk). Not only a fun activity, but also a tasty shot. It is a creamy liqueur with the flavour of banana and coconut: nice and tropical in other words! The drink originated in the 1990s and contains 15% alcohol. There is also a 'pink' variant of Boswandeling. This is also a cream liqueur, but tastes of raspberry and caramel.

Rocketshot

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what this shot tastes like: a rocket ice cream. So it is a tropical drink and contains 15% alcohol. Rocketshot is vodka-based and has a taste that everyone recognises from their childhood.

Flügel

A Flügel is nice and simple: you don't have to pour it and it already comes in a small bottle. Since its launch in 1996, the shot has become indispensable and therefore extremely popular. Flügel has a fresh taste and has a base of red vodka.

Stroh 80

You almost wouldn't believe it, but Stroh 80 is a liquor with 80% (!) alcohol; so for the real tough guys. It tastes like vanilla and the name is based on the drink's creator, Sebastian Stroh. Stroh 80 has other variants, namely Stroh 38 and Stroh 60. The numbers logically represent the percentage of alcohol. Stroh 80 is best mixed with another drink.

Apfelkorn

Apfelkorn is a drink invented by Johann Berentzen. It is a drink is a mixture of wheat-fired alcohol and apple. Apfelkorn is often served on winter sports in aprés-ski tents. The drink contains 14.5% alcohol and has a fresh and sweet taste.
